People's Park

If  you  are planning to  visit  Myanmar  in  near  future then you  should start  planning  your  itinerary  from now. There are a number of  places  of interest  in this  beautiful south  east  Asian  country that  it is easy for you to  miss  out  a  lot  of  important tourist  destination.   If  you  do  not  have  a  proper  plan  for  visiting  each of  them you may end  up  seeing only a small  number of tourist  attractions.  Whether you are fond of natural beauty or you love to visit the historical destinations you are sure to find some interesting destinations in Myanmar.

When in Yangon in Myanmar you should pay a visit to the  beautiful  People's Square and Park. People's Square and Park is one of the chief parks that surround the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar. This beautiful park is  situated  at the west of the great pagoda to the former Pyithu Hluttaw complex. This park is surrounded by Pyay Road to its west, U Wisara Road to the east, Dhammazedi Road to the north as well as Ahlone Road to the south.

Almost half of the complex is the 70.3-acre People's Square. There is a tree lined marble esplanade starting from Pyithu Hluttaw towards the Shwedagon Pagoda is the center piece of the square. Over a thousand trees and plants from 52 species make up the square. Pyidaungsu Ayeyeik Nyein occupies a corner of the Square and holds a permanent exhibition of dioramas of various Burmese ethnic groups, specimens of valuable timber and gemstones from various parts of the country.

 

People's Park occupies 65.42 acres next to the square in the north. Over 3,000 plants together with seventy two species of trees, twelve species of bamboo and fifty species of shrubs and climbers native to various parts of the country are planted in the park. Botanical mazes, flower show, fruit trees and even medicinal herbs account for an additional seventeen thousand flowering plants.
